Ice water hash (sometimes "bubble hash" or "WPFF — water-processed full-flavor") is a solventless cannabis concentrate produced through an ice-water mechanical extraction. Process: cannabis flower (typically fresh-frozen for premium grades) is loaded into a mesh bag and submerged in ice water with vigorous agitation. The cold water shears the trichome heads off the plant material; agitation suspends them in the water column. The water is then filtered through a series of progressively finer micron screens (220μ, 160μ, 90μ, 73μ, 45μ, 25μ — typical "stack"). Each screen catches a different size fraction of trichomes. The 73μ–90μ fraction is typically the highest quality (the "full melt" tier — pure trichome heads with minimal contaminants). The wet hash is then freeze-dried to remove moisture, producing dry ice water hash. From there it can be smoked directly, smoked in a "sandwich" between flower, or pressed into hash rosin. Premium ice water hash sells for $40–$80/gram; rosin pressed from it is the highest-tier solventless concentrate category.
