A dab rig is a specialized water pipe designed for consuming cannabis concentrates by vaporization. Rigs differ from regular bongs in three ways: smaller size (less air volume to fill, preserving terpene density), better airflow filtration (percolators sized for the lower vapor volume vs bigger flower hits), and a heated quartz banger fitting instead of a flower bowl. Rigs come in glass, silicone, and electric (e-rig) formats. Glass rigs are the connoisseur standard — borosilicate construction, often hand-blown by named glass artists. Recyclers (a specific rig style with a continuous water-circulation chamber) are particularly popular for low-temp dabbing because the vapor cools through multiple percolations. Common rig sizes: 5–9 inches tall, 14mm or 10mm joint size. Larger rigs handle bigger dabs but waste vapor; smaller rigs concentrate the hit but get hot fast.
