Curing is the post-harvest process of slowly drying cannabis flower under controlled humidity and temperature conditions, allowing enzymatic changes to develop the final aroma, flavor, and smoke quality. Harvested flower is first dried (3–10 days) until the stems snap. Then curing begins: the flower is transferred to sealed jars and "burped" (briefly opened) daily to exchange air, held at 58–62% relative humidity and 60–70°F. This process continues for 21–60+ days. During cure: chlorophyll breaks down (reducing the harsh "grassy" taste of fresh flower), terpenes volatilize into complex aromatic profiles, some THCa continues to form, and the smoke becomes significantly smoother. Quality connoisseur flower is cured 42+ days minimum. Poorly cured flower (under 14 days) tastes like wet grass and smokes harshly. Rosin Royale flower is cured 42+ days at 58°F, 60% RH — see the storage guide.
