Full profile
Myrcene is the most common terpene in modern commercial cannabis — the earthy-musky-mango compound that most "indica" body-heavy strains lead with. If a jar smells like ripe mango mixed with a damp forest floor, you're smelling myrcene. Chemically it's a monoterpene (C₁₀H₁₆) with a boiling point around 168°C. The "eat a mango before smoking" folk advice traces back to myrcene — mangoes are a significant dietary source, and the theory goes that circulating myrcene potentiates cannabinoid absorption. Outside cannabis, myrcene is the dominant terpene in hops (it's what makes IPAs taste hoppy), as well as bay leaf, thyme, and lemongrass. Myrcene-dominant strains tend toward sedative, body-heavy, couch-lock experiences — hence the classic indica profile. Research on myrcene covers muscle relaxation signalling, sedation, and sleep onset, all unevaluated by FDA. On Rosin Royale PDPs, myrcene-dominant strains carry the purple Terp Gem. Evening session, vinyl, low-lit room, hearty stew.
