Full profile
Beta-caryophyllene is the dominant terp in GMO, Original Glue, and most gassy Kush cuts. It's the only terpene known to directly bind cannabinoid receptor CB2 — effectively acting like a cannabinoid in the body. That binding profile is why caryophyllene-heavy strains are often described as deeply grounding and body-calming. Boiling point sits at 160°C, so low-temp dabs preserve the signature black-pepper-clove sting on the tongue. Outside cannabis, caryophyllene is the pepper compound (it's what makes black pepper taste like black pepper), as well as a significant component of cloves, hops, and rosemary. When you see "gassy" or "funk" on a strain review, caryophyllene is usually driving that descriptor. Research interest has grown around caryophyllene's anti-inflammatory signalling and its potential role in gut and joint comfort — again, not evaluated by FDA for medical use. On Rosin Royale PDPs, caryophyllene-dominant strains carry the burgundy Terp Gem. Pair with fatty, peppery food — steak au poivre, charcuterie, a smoky old fashioned.
