THE TWO-PIECE ACCESSORY THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Two small accessories that cost $30 combined upgrade every dab you’ll ever take: terp pearls (small spinning quartz/sapphire balls inside the banger) and a carb cap (the directional dome that covers the banger during the dab).
Without terp pearls, the dab puddles in the bottom of the banger and only the bottom layer vaporizes — leaving wasted product. Without a carb cap, the dab vaporizes at higher temperatures than necessary, burning terps.
Together: the carb cap creates a pressure-differential vortex, the terp pearls spin and break up the dab puddle, and you get full-vaporization low-temp dabs with no waste.
TERP PEARLS 101
Quartz or sapphire spheres, 4-8mm in diameter, dropped into the banger before the dab. They sit at the bottom and spin when you draw — driven by the airflow through the banger.
The spinning does two things: (a) constantly redistributes the dab puddle across the hot quartz surface, ensuring full vaporization, and (b) breaks up "cold spots" where the puddle would otherwise pool and waste.
Quartz pearls are cheaper ($10-20 for a set of 2). Sapphire pearls are heavier and spin more reliably ($25-40). Ruby pearls are decorative; they spin but offer no functional advantage over sapphire.
Quantity: 2 pearls is standard for a 25mm banger. 1 pearl can work but doesn’t spin as cleanly. 3+ pearls cluster and stop spinning.
CARB CAPS 101
A carb cap covers the banger top during the dab. It restricts airflow to a small directional opening, creating a low-pressure environment inside the banger that lowers the vaporization temperature of the dab.
Three main types:
Bubble cap: dome-shaped, single hole on top. Cheapest ($15-25). Static — doesn’t direct airflow.
Directional carb cap: angled hole that lets you point the airflow at specific parts of the banger. Spin the cap to redistribute the dab. $25-40.
Dichro / spinner cap: dichroic glass spinner that visually rotates as you draw. Functional + decorative. $40-80.
For practical use: a directional carb cap is the sweet spot. The directional control matters more than the visual flair.
TECHNIQUE WITH PEARLS + CAP
Drop terp pearls into the cold banger before heating.
Heat banger to red-hot. Pull torch. Wait for cooldown to target temp (60-75 seconds for 540°F).
Drop dab into banger. Immediately cover with carb cap.
Begin slow draw. The carb cap should be oriented so its airflow opening is directing air across the dab puddle.
Rotate the carb cap during the draw to keep the pearls spinning. The pearls should be visible spinning through the banger walls.
Continue drawing for 30-60 seconds. The dab fully vaporizes; pearls slow and stop as the puddle dissipates.
CLEANING PEARLS AND CAPS
Pearls: every dab, swap them out and Q-tip clean while the banger is warm. Replace into a hot-banger ISO rinse cycle for any remaining residue.
Carb cap: Q-tip the underside after every dab. The reclaim accumulates there. Once a week, full ISO soak with the banger.
Don’t skip — dirty pearls and caps absorb terpenes from the dab and carry them into the next session, blending flavors.
