SIZE MATTERS
25mm flat-top is the modern standard for hash rosin dabbing. Larger than 25mm (28mm, 30mm) cools too quickly for small dabs. Smaller (20mm, 14mm) concentrates heat too aggressively for low-temp pulls.
Match banger joint size to your rig (10mm / 14mm / 18mm).
WALL THICKNESS
Thicker walls (3mm+) hold temperature more stably through the dab — critical for low-temp rosin pulls at 520–540°F. Thin-wall bangers cool too fast.
Look for labeled thickness on the product description. Bargain bangers often have inconsistent wall thickness that causes hot spots.
FLAT-TOP VS ROUND-BOTTOM
Flat-top: modern standard. Flat bottom distributes heat evenly across the quartz surface and works well with terp pearls / spinner caps for airflow.
Round-bottom: old school. Concentrates heat at the lowest point, produces smaller vapor spots.
For rosin, flat-top 25mm is the current connoisseur default.
PRICE
$25–$40: entry-level, Chinese-imported, inconsistent wall thickness. Fine for starting out.
$60–$120: American-made from graded quartz, consistent wall thickness, better longevity. The upgrade most rosin heads eventually make.
$150+: premium brands with unique shapes, matching spinner caps, thermal banger designs. Diminishing returns above $150 for most consumers.
WHEN TO REPLACE
Chazzed quartz (permanent gray/black discoloration from overheating): replace immediately. The discoloration can't be cleaned off and produces harsh dabs.
Cracks or chips: replace immediately.
Cloudy buildup that doesn't clean off with ISO: replace.
A well-maintained banger lasts 6–12 months of daily use.
