Distillate is a highly-refined cannabis extract produced through short-path distillation of crude cannabis oil. The process separates individual cannabinoids from terpenes and other plant compounds through controlled temperature and vacuum. The resulting distillate is typically 85–95% pure cannabinoid (most commonly Δ9 THC or CBD), flavorless, odorless, and crystal-clear in appearance. Distillate is the backbone of most commercial vape cartridges and edibles because it's shelf-stable, easy to dose precisely, and lacks the complex flavor of full-spectrum extracts (which can be seen as a feature for manufacturing purposes). Many live resin / live rosin vape carts use distillate as a base and re-introduce terpenes afterward to produce the "live" flavor profile at scale. Distillate is the opposite extraction philosophy from rosin — rosin preserves the full plant character, distillate strips it for precision.
